Simplification Project is a formal channel through which employee ideas can be presented. This project encourages employees to offer up suggestions of their own or as a group. The decision regarding approval and implementation of these ideas is made most of the time by the front line. Symbolic awards are handed out every six months and are patterned after the Japanese model. At the event, the inventor explains his/her idea and receives the award from the director or manager during the solemnities.
The Project was devised to for the following reasons:
- To serve as a two way communications channel;
- To create a high level of involvement on the part of key management and forepersons;
- To arouse awareness that the company should be strengthened to enable it to operate even in a period great turmoil and not on the basis of monetary rewards; and
- The line personnel themselves approve and implement the ideas.
