Five-liter can for dangerous products wins Embanews Award

The new more economical and resistant 5-liter can produced by Brasilata has been honored with the Brazilian Packaging Award

Recommended for canning of dangerous goods, the new 5-liter UN container featuring horizontal moldings on the can ends is the most recent Brasilata Development team innovation. The new product offers an alternative solution in impact resistant cans and requires less raw material input in its manufacture since it dispenses the triple seaming process, which is the traditional solution used in this type of container.

This improvement is based on the principle of allowing the horizontal moldings absorb the shock from impact caused from falls. The moldings cause the housing, i.e., the container to deform, thereby protecting the seams and prevent leakages. The principal is similar to that used by the automobile industry, which employs bumpers to absorb impact. The new container was approved according to the recommended parameters established by United Nations, for packaging dangerous products and is the newest member of the Brasilata UN family of cans.

The new 5-liter can produced by Brasilata has just received top honors from Embanews - the Prêmio Brasileiro de Embalagem (the Brazilian Packaging Award), in the technology category. The 12th Awards ceremony was held on March 21, 2002 in São Paulo.
