Manufacturers of solvent based paints, chemical products, adhesives, agricultural chemicals and other items regarded as hazardous can now rely on a new steel container alternative which fully complies with the new legislation patterned after United Nations - UN recommended procedures.
Brasilata, one of the largest steel container manufacturers in Brazil has just introduced an 18-liter square can – UN based on brand new technology that does not require triple seaming.
To meet market demand, the Brasilata staff designed a system that absorbs the impact on the seam portion of a fully filled can when a fall occurs. Free falls are one of the most rigorous tests that the container is subjected to in order to receive authorization for transportation of hazardous products.
Based on a partnership entered into with the Universidade Federal in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brasilata used finite elements software to determine the ideal profile for the body of the new 18-liter UN can. This new technology also enables use of thinner steel sheets thus enabling competitive advantages to the paint and chemical products sector companies.
